Privacy policy
Musicly keeps as little as it can. There are no accounts, no cookies and no ads, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
In your browser
Your playlists, filters, scores, recent games and the song clips Musicly has already found are saved in your browser's own storage on your device. They never leave it unless you send them yourself, for example with Share my playlists. You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Friend rooms
When you create or join a room, Musicly's room server keeps:
- the nicknames in the room, the room's songs (titles and artists) and everyone's scores
- a scrambled form of the internet address of whoever created the room, used only to stop one connection from opening more than 3 rooms
A room closes by itself after 10 minutes without a game, and everything in it is deleted soon after, the scrambled address included. Your browser keeps a key that lets you back into a room you're in.
Services Musicly uses
- Cloudflare hosts the site and the room server and counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you across sites. Like any web host, it sees your internet address when your browser connects.
- Deezer provides the song clips and the song search. Your browser asks Deezer directly, so Deezer sees your internet address.
- Apple: when you add an Apple Music playlist link, the link is read through Musicly's own relay on Cloudflare, and your browser asks Apple for the songs' genres.
- cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) sends the small tool that opens .zip files, only when you add one.
- Google Forms receives a problem report if you choose to send one. The form is filled in with Musicly's version and your device and browser type, and you can change them before sending.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy.
Cookies
Musicly sets no cookies. The browser storage described above is only used to make the game work, so there's nothing to accept or decline.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what is stored about you, and have it corrected or deleted. As almost everything stays on your own device and rooms delete themselves, there is usually nothing on Musicly's side to send. For questions, use Report a problem. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde).
